Welcome Back to the BU Catholic Center!

COVID-19 Updates:

Dear Friends,

I’m delighted to welcome you all back to the BU Catholic Center this semester! While things will be different for a time, rest assured that Catholic life at BU will continue.

Let me also extend a welcome to BU students who will not be joining us on campus this year, or this semester. You are still an integral part of the BU Catholic community, and we look forward to continuing our friendship in Christ by virtual means.

I look forward to meeting all of you! I was honored when Cardinal Sean asked me to succeed Fr. Barnes this past spring, especially given his long and blessed tenure at the Catholic Center. It will be a privilege to serve as your chaplain and pastor. I will meet many of you in person soon, but in the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me: kstaleyj@bu.edu

Let me reassure everyone that we at the Catholic Center are undaunted by the coming semester, despite the uncertainties of the pandemic. Why? First, because, as Our Lord tells us: “Do not fear: I am with you; do not be anxious: I am your God.” Secondly, we have spent countless hours this summer planning for the coming year, implementing BU’s Covid-safety guidelines and adding in our own.

A few things will look different this semester including liturgy and programming. Please refer to the BUCC COVID-19 Guidelines.

Lastly, let me re-introduce you to our stellar staff at the Catholic Center. We are blessed to have Christina Smith (BU ’18) as our new office manager, succeeding the legendary Fran Boucher. (We hope that Fran will continue to visit us every so often to say hello throughout the year.) Wesley Woods is our organization and development guru, and will help to keep our ship sailing smoothly this year. Claudio Hewgley (BU ’20) is our intern this year, and has already worked tirelessly to shape our programming and mission. We can’t forget our FOCUS missionaries, all of whom are veterans this year: Gian Gonzalez, Kathleen Calvin, Darius Iraj, and Christina Verdi

Friends, we are here to serve God and to help you serve him better, and to grow in your knowledge of the truth. God will bless us abundantly this year. Please keep an eye on our website and social for information on Catholic Center welcome events and updates.

The Catholic Center Mission

As beloved children of God, we strive to encounter our fellow students, to invite them to a personal relationship with Him and the Catholic family of BU. We seek for all to discover the dignity and intrinsic value of the human person created in the image and likeness of God, as we work to spread the joy of the Gospel.

Help support our mission by making monthly donations through at Churchgiving.com.
